A square lacquer box painted in the town of Palekh in 1968 by the famous lacquerware artist Valentin Fedotov. Fedotov was born in the Yalinsky Collective Farm in the Kurgan Region in 1935.
He was a member of the Artists Union starting in 1982. His work has been exhibited since 1974, and are now part of the collections at the State Museum of Palekh Art, the All-Russia Museum of Decorative and Applied Art, and the Art Foundation of Russia. This particular work depicts the legendary bogatyr (Russian knight) at the crossroads.
